Security Guard job description

Security Guards are required to inspect and patrol properties to protect against vandalism, terrorism, theft, fire, and different types of illegal activities. They may be armed and use various telecommunications devices to call for assistance from fire fighters, police forces, and emergency medical services if necessary. These guards also interview witnesses or victims to prepare case reports and testify in court. They may work on their own in small infrastructures or team up with other guards in large organizations.
Security Guards usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Watching unusual activity.
• Creating reports about damaging or theft of the property.
• Checking cards and security badges.
• Patrolling properties.
• Preventing crimes.

Education
There are no specific education requirements to be a Security Guard. In most cases they are just required to have a High School Diploma or equivalent qualification. Those who want to work as gaming surveillance officers need to have postsecondary education. Employers in this field usually offer on-the-job training programs for their new employees. Some persons working on this area are required to have formal training programs in order to use firearms. In several states, guards must be licensed in order to perform their duties. This qualification requires applicants over eighteen years old completing classroom training and passing a background check.
