School Nurses are responsible for the well-being of the students and staff members of a school. They need to address student health issues and implement programs to promote good health habits. Sometimes these professionals need to prevent the spread of contagious diseases inside a school. They may also educate student´s parents about epidemics that could affect their children.

School Nurses usually perform many of the following tasks:

Applicants for School Nurse posts need to have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, and pass nurse licensing exams. They need to be Registered Nurses and have the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses designation. These registrations require that candidates complete an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Licensure for this area is obtained from the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. After becoming Registered Nurses, these professionals have to obtain a certificate given by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.
