Woodward is a city in and the county seat of Woodward County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the largest city in a nine-county area. The population was 11,853 at the 2000 census.The area was originally home to Kiowa, Comanche, Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, but white settlers established the town in 1887. The Land Run of 1893 further opened up the area to settlement.
