Machine Operators are responsible for running equipment and machine tools at production or manufacturing facilities. There are apprenticeships and training programs that teach how to start machines, adjust speeds, and change tools. Apprenticeship schemes can last four years and include classroom instruction and job training. Candidates for these schemes are required to have a two-year technical program. Persons working on this field must have knowledge in statistics, trigonometry, geometry, algebra, metals, plastics and being able to read blueprints.
