Dental Hygienists are responsible for removing hard and soft deposits from teeth and teaching how to practice good oral hygiene to patients. These professionals examine teeth and gums of persons in order to find abnormalities or diseases. They remove stains, tartar, and plaque from the teeth using ultrasonic devices and rotary instrument. They also help patients to maintain good oral health for preventive dental care.

Dental Hygienist jobs demand applicants having a Degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene school and a State license. These programs require candidates with a high school diploma and college entrance test scores. High school students who want to work in this business should take courses in math, biology, and chemistry in order to obtain suitable knowledge and skills. There are dental hygiene programs that require applicants having at least a complete year of college. Most private dental offices offer practices to candidates having a Certificate or Associate´s Degree in Dental Hygiene.
