Delivery Drivers are required to transport and delivery goods between different locations. Types of products transported vary according to companies they work for. They must drive company-owned vehicles or their own vehicles for long distances based on specific requirements. These drivers are responsible for pulling items from stock rooms, loading them into the vehicle and then transporting that merchandise to the intended destination.

Education
Applicants for Delivery Driver jobs are required to have a High School Diploma or equivalent education level. They must be over eighteen years old and have experience in maintaining and repairing vehicles. Drivers who need to operate vehicles weighing more than 26,001 pounds are required to have a Commercial Driver´s License. Applicants for this qualification need to take a driver training course at a vocational school or community college. Those workers who operate lighter vehicles are just required to have a valid driver´s license issued from the state in which they live. Most companies offer their own training programs in order to teach basic knowledge and skills related to these jobs. Several drivers in this industry started working at lower level positions, loading and unloading vehicles and then moved to driver´s positions.
