Professors are responsible for teaching students different subjects according to their area. They specialize in one or more subjects and help their students to understand particular topics by preparing lectures, creating reports, and grading tests. These professionals may work at different institutions including universities, colleges, government agencies and institutes. They also have office hours to resolve student´s issues and complete research projects according to employers´ requirements.

Candidates for Professor job placements are required to have a Doctoral Degree in the field they want to teach and work experience in that subject. These programs take six years and require that applicants have a Bachelor´s Degree course. Engineering programs take less time than Humanity programs that can take longer than the general specified time. Once candidates complete a Doctoral Program they can select a subspecialty. Persons who want to work as Associate Professors and Adjunct Professors are required to have a Master´s Degree, including more than 21 postgraduate hours of the subject they chose to teach. Some professional associations in this field are the National Education Association and the American Association of University Professors.
