Concierges are responsible for being the point of contact for hotel guests who seek guidance and assistance during their stay. Their duties are related to arranging special events, making reservations, and helping tourists by giving information about different aspects of the hotel rules and points of interest close to this building. They may work at resorts, luxurious complexes, spas, hotels, among other places.

Concierges usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Understanding people´s needs.
• Maintaining confidentiality of any information of guests.
• Making arrangements for dinners.
• Handling mails of guests.
• Acting as a guide in local tourist maps.

Education

Concierge job placements require applicants having a bachelor´s degree in hotel management, including command over English language and excellent communication skills as a minimum. Some employers demand candidates having past work experience in areas like customer service. There are suitable training programs offered by hospitality schools and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation for people who want to work in this business. Other degrees for this area are courses related to international tourism offered by vocational and community colleges. Subjects included in these courses are strategic planning, global tourism, and hospitality business. Some professionals of this area start working at lower level positions and then they are promoted to concierge jobs.
